Connection Questions
Did the opening take the focus off the seller and lower the prospect's guard?
#1 Focus Area
Say you are not sure yet whether you can help. It takes the pressure out of the first minute.
You opened with what you had noticed about their team and asked permission before your first question. The prospect agreed quickly. You then gave a short background on 7Q before they had told you anything, which put the focus back on you for a moment.
Open with "I'm not sure yet if we can help" before you ask anything.
Hold the company background until they ask for it.
Keep the first question about their world, not about your product.
"I saw you added three reps this spring. Would it be alright if I asked a couple of questions about how quotes get followed up?"
"Sure, go ahead."
"Great. Quick background on us first…"
Consequence Questions
Did the seller ask what happens if nothing changes, and let the prospect answer?
#1 Focus Area
After you ask what happens if nothing changes, stop talking. You answered for them.
You asked the consequence question once, at the right moment. The prospect paused, and you filled the silence with your own answer inside three seconds. They agreed with you, which is weaker than saying it themselves.
Ask the question, then count to five in your head before you say anything.
When they answer, ask what that would mean for them personally.
Do not offer the consequence yourself. If they cannot name one, the problem is not big enough yet.
"What happens if follow-up looks the same next spring?"
"I mean, you'd probably lose another season of easy jobs, right?"
"Yeah, probably."
Problem Awareness Questions
Did the seller get the prospect to name the problem and its cost, in their own words?
#1 Focus Area
Ask what the missed follow-ups are costing before you move to the solution.
You asked what the prospect would change about how the team follows up on quotes and let them answer in full. They named slow follow-up and a rep who left in March. You moved to the solution before asking how long it had been happening or what it was costing, so the problem stayed small in their mind.
After they name the problem, ask how long it has been going on before you say anything about 7Q.
Ask what the slow follow-ups have cost them in closed deals this quarter. Let the number come from them.
Hold the solution until they have said why fixing this matters now.
"Is there anything you would change about how your team follows up on quotes today?"
"Honestly, the follow-ups. Quotes go out and then nobody calls for a week. We lost a rep in March and it got worse."
"Got it. So what we do is…"
Situation Questions
Did the seller learn how things work today before asking what is wrong?
#1 Focus Area
Ask what they have already tried. It tells you where the next question should go.
Three short questions gave you the whole picture: who follows up, when, and how it is tracked. The prospect did most of the talking and you did not comment on the answers. You did not ask what they had tried before, so you learned about one earlier attempt only later in the call.
Add one question: "What have you tried so far to fix that?"
Keep the count where it is. Three or four situation questions are enough.
"Walk me through what happens after a quote goes out today."
"The rep who wrote it is supposed to call back in two days. There are six of us, and it's tracked in a spreadsheet."
"And who checks whether the call happened?"
Solution Awareness Questions
Did the prospect describe, in their own words, what fixing it would do for them?
#1 Focus Area
Ask what fixing it would do for them personally, not only for the team.
You asked what would change if every quote got a call back, and the prospect put a number on it without help. You accepted the answer and moved on. The result stayed a business figure; they never said what it would mean for them.
Follow their number with "And what would that do for you?"
Ask what has stopped them from fixing it before now.
Let them finish the picture before you say "that makes sense".
"If every quote got a call back inside two days, what would that change?"
"We'd stop losing the easy ones. Probably four or five jobs a month."
"That makes sense."
Transition
Did the seller confirm what the problem is worth and earn the right to present?
#1 Focus Area
Ask whether they want to hear how you would approach it before you start presenting.
Your recap used the prospect's own words and their own number, and you asked whether it was worth fixing this quarter. They said yes plainly. You then started the presentation without asking if they wanted to hear it.
After the yes, ask "Would it help if I showed you how we would approach that?"
Keep the recap this short. It worked.
"So quotes wait a week, it got worse after March, and it's costing you four or five jobs a month. Is that worth fixing this quarter?"
"It is. That's real money."
"Okay. Here's how 7Q handles that."
Commitment Questions
Did the prospect choose the next step themselves?
#1 Focus Area
Make your ask simpler and more specific: what happens next, and when.
You asked for a next step in a steady tone. The ask did not say what would happen next or when, so the prospect took the easiest answer and asked for an email.
Ask "What would you like to do from here?" and wait.
If they want to go ahead, offer two specific times instead of "next week".
Agree on who does what before the call ends.
"So, do you want to set something up?"
"Send me an email and I'll look at my calendar."

Intelligence
Each conversation is measured against the NEPQ stages, from Connection to Commitment, so a seller sees where the questioning held and where it slipped.
Reinforcement
Clear, specific notes on what to ask differently, ready before the next call. Managers see the same view across the team.
Works with
Step 01
Link your calendar once. 7Q joins the sales calls you choose and skips the rest.
Step 02
Run the call the way you normally do. Nothing changes in the conversation.
Step 03
After the call, read the transcript, the NEPQ score and the coaching notes.
Step 04
Work on one question type at a time and watch the score move call by call.
Ask Jeremy
Ask Jeremy is the assistant inside 7Q. Ask it how to handle an objection, what to say at a given stage, or what went wrong on a call, and it answers from Jeremy Miner's teaching, with the source shown.
